Team Nigeria Secures 10 Gold Medals at 2026 Games

Team Nigeria finished the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, with a total of 10 gold, seven silver, and five bronze medals, one gold less than their performance at the Birmingham edition four years prior. On the final day, Nigeria secured only one gold medal from the four projected, with the men's 4x100m relay team of Favour Ashe, Kanyinsola Ajayi, Nicholas Fakorede, and Udodi Onwuzurike finishing with a bronze after Canada’s disqualification was overturned.

Australia won gold in 38.07 seconds, just 0.05 seconds ahead of Nigeria. In women's events, Nigeria finished sixth in the 4x100m relay, while Ruth Usoro won silver in the women's long jump with a wind-assisted leap of 6.87m.

Samuel Ogazi claimed gold in the Men's 400m with a time of 44.25 seconds, finishing 0.57 seconds ahead of defending champion Jereem Richards. Ogazi expressed confidence in his preparation and performance, stating he aimed to meet the expectations of Nigerians.
