Global Silence on Nigeria Killings Raises Alarm, Says Hashim

Dr. Gbenga Hashim, a former presidential candidate, has voiced alarm over the global indifference to the escalating mass killings in Nigeria, particularly highlighting a recent attack in Kebbi State that reportedly resulted in 40 deaths. He noted that similar incidents have occurred across various states, including Kwara, Benue, Plateau, Niger, and Nasarawa, with estimated casualties ranging from 130 to 300 within a week.

Hashim criticized the muted response from global institutions such as the United Nations and the African Union, emphasizing that the ongoing violence has become alarmingly routine and fails to elicit sustained outrage. He questioned why the deaths of Nigerians do not trigger a global response and warned that the trajectory of violence risks normalizing mass deaths as a tragic reality.
