GNI Building Fire in Lagos: Death Toll Rises, Recovery Operations Continue

The GNI building fire in Lagos has resulted in a rising death toll, with recovery operations continuing. The incident occurred on December 24, 2025, leading to eight fatalities and several injuries.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, led by Olufemi Okosanyintolu, is actively involved in the recovery efforts. Margaret Adeseye confirmed the initial absence of casualties on the day of the fire.

The blaze started on the fourth floor and quickly spread, causing a partial collapse of the building. Efforts are ongoing to recover those trapped in the rubble.
