APC Dominates Gombe Local Government Elections

In the recent local government elections held in Gombe State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) achieved a sweeping victory, winning all available seats. The Gombe State Independent Electoral Commission (GOSIEC), led by Chairman Abdullahi Garba Talass, announced the results on Saturday, confirming that the APC secured all 24 chairmanship positions and 240 councillorship positions across the newly created Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).

Talass described the successful conduct of the elections as a significant milestone for the state's democratic development, noting that Gombe has expanded to 11 local government councils. He acknowledged the collaborative efforts of various stakeholders, including political parties, civil society organizations, and security agencies, in ensuring a peaceful electoral process.

However, he pointed out that opposition parties, including the African Congress (AC), Democratic Labour Alliance (DLA), New Nigeria Peoples Movement (NRM), Youth Party (YP), and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), recorded poor showings, with some areas reporting zero votes due to limited participation.
