APC Dominates Gombe State Local Government Elections

The All Progressives Congress (APC) achieved a clean sweep in the Gombe State local government elections, winning all available positions. The Gombe State Independent Electoral Commission (GOSIEC), led by Abdullahi Garba, announced that APC secured 24 chairmanship positions and 240 councillorship seats.

This election marked a significant milestone as it was the first conducted following the expansion of the state's local government structure, which now includes 11 councils and 24 administrative councils. Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya's approval facilitated the establishment of 13 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) to enhance grassroots governance and accelerate development.

The elections saw participation from several political parties, including the African Action Congress (AAC), Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA), Youth Party (YP), Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), and National Rescue Movement (NRM). Garba commended the role of political parties, civil society organizations, security agencies, and media stakeholders in ensuring a peaceful electoral process across the state.
