Gombe PDP Aspirants Reject Pantami's Candidacy

Gombe State People's Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirants have publicly rejected the candidacy of Isa Ali Pantami, a former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy. The aspirants, including Abdulkadir Saleh and Monica Kaltho, accused the party leadership of sidelining them and not adhering to the proper procedures during the selection process.

They claimed that Saleh had fulfilled all requirements by purchasing a nomination form and undergoing screening in Abuja, only to be surprised by the announcement of Pantami as the winner of the primary election, which was initially scheduled for the 24th but shifted to the 26th. Saleh expressed his intention to challenge the outcome through legal means.

Kaltho emphasized that they were not properly informed about the process and questioned the legitimacy of Pantami's participation, noting that he had recently defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to join PDP. Abdulkadir Ahmad, the PDP Gombe State Public Secretary, defended Pantami's candidacy, stating that all procedures were followed.
