Monica Yahaya Declares Gombe Governorship Ambition

Monica Yahaya, a 33-year-old governorship aspirant from the People's Democratic Party (PDP), declared her intention to contest the 2027 Gombe State governorship election on Tuesday after obtaining her nomination form at the PDP secretariat in Gombe. Yahaya promises to promote inclusive leadership, empower women, and focus on grassroots development.

She aims to bridge the leadership gap and enhance representation for women and youth in governance. Yahaya expressed confidence that Gombe residents would see a difference with women in leadership roles, asserting that women can deliver effective governance when given the opportunity.

She highlighted the marginalization of women in politics despite their contributions to society and emphasized the need to empower youth to reduce social vices. Yahaya also identified water supply as a major challenge in Gombe State, pledging to address it if elected.

She has spent two decades in civil society, engaging with women and youth in rural communities in preparation for leadership.
