Google and Slum2School Launch Folktales Coloring Book

On March 31, 2026, Google partnered with Slum2School Africa to unveil an initiative aimed at bringing Nigerian folktales to life for children through a unique coloring book. The project, which includes contributions from Nigerian creators such as comedian Broda Shaggi, rapper Falz, and content creator Layi Wasabi, seeks to tackle the shortage of educational materials in Nigerian schools by distributing 1,000 copies of the book to primary school pupils.

The initiative utilizes Google Gemini's creative tools to transform African folklore into engaging, printable line art. The event, held at the Slum2School Innov Hub in Lekki, featured a storytelling session led by Olumide Balogun, Google West Africa's director, and included guest readers Nanci Isim and Bisola Aiyeola.

The project aligns with Slum2School Africa's mission to break the cycle of poverty through education, ensuring children have access to culturally relevant learning resources. Each child will receive a "dream pack" containing the coloring book, crayons, notebooks, and educational games.
