Google launches free 12-month AI Plus for Nigerian students
Nigerian students aged 18+ in accredited institutions can now access Google's premium AI tools at no cost for one year as part of the Gemini Student Offer.
Nigeria's higher education institutions now offer students a no-cost 12-month access plan to Google's AI Plus service through the Gemini Student Offer. Valued at ₦92,400 annually, this programme welcomes learners aged 18 and above enrolled at accredited universities, polytechnics, and colleges throughout the nation.
Those who take advantage of this subscription unlock multiple artificial intelligence capabilities tailored for scholarly work. Among the available tools are Gemini Omni and Gemini Live, permitting voice-based interactions with AI systems, as well as Deep Research functionality and 400 gigabytes of cloud storage capacity.
Guided Learning stands out as a feature delivering incremental coaching instead of providing immediate solutions, setting it apart from conventional search mechanisms. Students participating in prior iterations of the scheme may extend their access once they complete necessary authentication checks.
This roll-out coincides with the start of the forthcoming academic term, enabling a significant population of tertiary-level learners nationwide to benefit from the initiative. By eliminating cost obstacles that could otherwise block Nigerian learners from obtaining sophisticated artificial intelligence resources for investigation, knowledge acquisition, and coursework, the programme expands educational opportunity.
The exact application closure date and the authentication procedures for confirming enrollment status remain undisclosed.
