Gospel Icon Toun Soetan Passes Away at 73

Toun Soetan, a renowned Nigerian gospel singer and songwriter, has died at the age of 73. She was widely recognized for her spiritual gifts and impactful ministry in gospel music.

Soetan is best known for composing the beloved Christian chorus "Darling Jesus," which remains a staple in churches throughout Nigeria. Her music, including other notable songs like "Ke Pe Jesu" and "Cast Burden," gained widespread acceptance in Christian worship gatherings.

Kunle Bakar, a former secretary of the Oyo State chapter of the Entertainment Writers Association of Nigeria, described her as a mentor to many upcoming gospel musicians. Peter Olaniyi Olusegun announced her passing in a Facebook post, highlighting that her influence extended beyond "Darling Jesus." Soetan's legacy includes training singers and instrumentalists who have become prominent in the gospel music ministry.
