Gospel Icon Toun Soetan Passes Away at 73

Toun Soetan, a renowned Nigerian gospel singer and songwriter, has died at the age of 73. She was widely recognized for her contributions to gospel music, particularly for her popular song "Darl Jesu," which remains a staple in Christian worship across Nigeria.

Alhaji Kunle Bakar, a former secretary of the Oyo State Chapter of the Entertainment Writers Association of Nigeria, described Soetan as a divine gift whose music carried powerful spiritual messages. He noted that she trained many gospel music players who continue to thrive today.

The news of her passing was confirmed by fellow gospel musician Peter Olaniyi Olusegun, who expressed his sorrow in a Facebook post, referring to Soetan as a legend. Her notable works included songs like "Ke Pe Jesu" and "Cast Your Burden," which have been widely used in Christian worship gatherings.
