Gov Alia finally suspends Otukpo LG Chairman, SUBEB boss, one other

Governor of Benue State, Rev Fr Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has finally suspended three public officials following a resolution by the Benue State House Assembly. The suspended officials include the Executive Chairman of Otukpo Local Government Area, Maxwell Ogiri, the Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Grace Adagba, and the Executive Secretary of the Benue State Lottery Commission, Michael Uper.

The suspensions are for a period of one month, effective immediately. Governor Alia's delay in upholding the resolution had caused tension between the two arms of government.

In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Alia affirmed the suspensions and reiterated his commitment to the rule of law and due process. He commended the House Assembly for its constitutional responsibility and assured the people of Benue State of his administration's dedication to transparency, accountability, and good governance.
