Gov Alia Suspends SUBEB, Otukpo Council Chairman

Benue State Governor, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia, has suspended several public officials, including the Executive Chairman of Otukpo Local Government Area, Maxwell Ogiri, and the Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Grace Adagba. The suspension, which was approved following a resolution passed by the State House Assembly, also affects the Executive Secretary of the Benue State Lottery Commission, Michael Uper.

The suspension is set to take effect on August 20 and will last for one month. Governor Alia emphasized his commitment to the rule of law and due process, praising the Assembly for its constitutional duty.

The affected officials were urged to ensure continuity of service delivery during the suspension period. The suspension comes after clashes between the SUBEB chairman and the House Committee, leading to a recommendation for their suspension.
