Benue Assembly suspends ex-speaker Dajoh over alleged plot to impeach Gov Alia

The Benue State House Assembly has suspended former Speaker Hon Aondona Dajoh for three months over an alleged plot to impeach Governor Alia. The suspension came after a motion by a member accusing Dajoh of gathering members at his residence to initiate the impeachment move.

The Assembly, guided by the principle of separation of powers, condemned Dajoh's actions and suspended him to allow for reflection. The motion was seconded by another member who emphasized the need to uphold the integrity of the House.

Additionally, the Assembly confirmed two commissioner nominees previously rejected, following a letter from the governor requesting reconsideration. The Speaker also lifted the suspension of three officials, including the chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board.

The Assembly urged for forgiveness and cooperation moving forward.
