Lawsuit Filed Against Gov. Alia's Aides Over Alleged Plot to Remove NURTW Chairman

A lawsuit has been initiated against Governor Hyacinth Alia's aides in Benue State, accusing them of planning to oust Comrade Julius Agbatar, the NURTW state chairman. The plaintiff, Agbatar, through his lawyer M.S.

Kwaghtyo, approached Chief Magistrate Kevin Mbanongun, claiming that an unconstitutional caretaker committee was being set up to run the union's affairs. Agbatar, elected in August 2025, seeks court orders to maintain his leadership until his tenure ends in 2029.

The lawsuit aims to restrain any attempts to dissolve the current NURTW state executive or appoint a caretaker committee.
