Akwa Ibom Governor Plans Budget Increase for 2025 Development Goals

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State plans to increase the state's 2025 budget following a supplementary proposal submitted to the State House Assembly. The decision was formalized during a State Executive Council meeting in Uyo, where the governor also declared a state of emergency in the health sector due to maternal deaths at General Hospital Ikot Ekpene.

The supplementary budget, aimed at supporting various sectors including health, infrastructure, and transportation, will total a revised trillion naira. The additional funds will cover areas such as the new minimum wage, NYSC allowances, emergency flood control, and the acquisition of CNG Mass Transit buses.

This budget adjustment aligns with the state's development goals and addresses critical needs.
