Governor Fubara Empowered to Sack Commissioners

Legal practitioner Barrister Akondo Aki stated that Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has the constitutional right to dismiss Commissioners appointed by the outgoing Sole Administrator. The Sole Administrator's appointment was deemed illegal, making all subsequent appointments null and void.

Barrister Aki emphasized that Governor Fubara is at liberty to dissolve the State Executive Council and nominate new Commissioners for approval by the State House of Assembly. This legal clarification comes after the Governor's suspension in March 2025 and subsequent appointment of a Sole Administrator by President Bola Tinubu.
