Otti Appoints Dr. Kalu as ABSUTH Board Chairman

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has officially appointed Dr. Ezinn Chinyer Benjamin Kalu, the wife of Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, as the Chairman of the Abia State University Teaching Hospital (ABSUTH) Management Board.

This appointment is part of a newly reconstituted board expected to play a critical role in repositioning ABSUTH as a leading center for medical excellence and research. Other members of the reconstituted management board include Prof. Nneka Chioma Okoronkwo as Chief Medical Director, Dr. Kelechi Omend, Dr. Templ Nwosu, and Dr. Patrick Umezurik as members.

Prof. P.E.N. Onyemachi will serve as the Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee, while Prof. Gazi Okpara will act as Deputy Vice Chancellor representing the Senate.

The board also includes Dr. Ifeyinwa Blossom Uma Kalu, the Permanent Secretary of the Health Ministry, Mr. Ihuoma Nwagbara as the Director of Administration, and Dr. Odochi Ewurum representing the Nigeria Medical Association. Governor Otti congratulated the new chairman and board members, urging them to justify the trust placed in them and to work diligently to transform the institution into a top-tier healthcare research hub.
