Otti Prioritizes Merit Over Politics in Abia Appointments

In a statement released by Ukoha Njoku, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Alex Otti, the governor reaffirmed his administration's commitment to merit-based appointments, disregarding political affiliations and state origins. During an event in Umuahia, Otti explained that the selection process for public officials would focus solely on competence.

He highlighted the appointment of Dr. Ezinn Benjamin Kalu as the chairman of the Abia State University Teaching Hospital Management Board, which followed a rigorous interview process involving seven candidates. Otti stressed that his administration prioritizes performance and results over political considerations, stating that he does not care about the political party affiliations of appointees.

This merit-based approach extends to ongoing plans to recruit 5,000 teachers, with an additional 4,000 to be hired, ensuring that qualified individuals are appointed to enhance service delivery in the state.
