Cross River Governor Bassey Otu Bans Scrap Businesses

Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has implemented a six-month ban on all scrap-related businesses within the state. This decision was made to address urgent public safety concerns and to mitigate economic losses resulting from vandalism and theft of private and public assets.

The governor directed an immediate review of the regulatory framework governing scrap-related activities, as stated in a release signed by the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Ededem Charl Ani. The ban aims to halt further damage and restore order, particularly as the state has seen a rise in criminal activities linked to scrap dealers and scavengers.

The government has mandated law enforcement agencies to ensure strict compliance with this directive, and any individuals or entities found violating the ban will face legal sanctions.
