Governor Yahaya Praises Voter Turnout in Gombe By-Election

Governor Yahaya commended the peaceful conduct of the Gombe by-election after casting his ballot at his polling unit. He noted the impressive voter turnout, describing it as a positive demonstration of citizens’ commitment to democracy.

The governor expressed satisfaction with the organization of the election, stating it was well organized and peaceful, and highlighted the enthusiasm of voters despite it being a by-election. He expressed optimism regarding his party's performance, attributing its acceptance to significant developments achieved during his administration.

The by-election was conducted across 903 polling units in three Local Government Areas: Gombe, Kwami, and Funakaye, to fill the vacant seat in the House of Representatives following the death of Hon. Yaya Bauchi Tongo on June 12, 2026. Governor Yahaya emphasized that the peaceful conduct of this by-election could serve as a valuable experience for the upcoming 2027 general elections and urged all stakeholders to continue fostering a peaceful electoral environment.
