Kano Governor Yusuf Dismisses Head of Service Musa

On Tuesday, March 11, 2026, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, the Executive Governor of Kano State, announced the immediate dismissal of Alhaji Abdullahi Musa from his role as the Head of Service. This decision is part of ongoing efforts by the current administration to restructure the state civil service for improved efficiency and service delivery.

Despite Musa's tenure as a civil servant set to expire in 2024 and previous controversies surrounding his time in office, the governor expressed appreciation for Musa's contributions during his tenure. The governor's spokesperson, Sunusi Batur Dawakin Tofa, issued a statement regarding the dismissal.

Following Musa's exit, Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu Maimota has been appointed as the acting Permanent Secretary in the General Administration Service Cabinet Office until a substantive Head of Service is appointed.
