Tensions Rise in Bauchi APC Over Governor's Defection Bid

Governor Bala Muhammed's attempt to defect from the All Progressives Congress (APC) has ignited tensions within the Bauchi APC Caucus. A caucus meeting held in Abuja on Wednesday revealed deep divisions among members regarding the political implications of Muhammed's potential entry into the APC.

Members articulated their positions through a high-power committee aimed at presenting demands to the party's national leadership. Hon. Dabo Ismail described this initiative as a step towards internal democracy and unity, emphasizing the need for mechanisms to accommodate differing opinions and preserve party cohesion.

However, Senator Sama Ila Dahuwa criticized the national leadership of the APC for failing to consult critical stakeholders in Bauchi State before advancing discussions on the proposed defection. Dahuwa warned against imposing decisions without broad-based engagement and consensus among party members in the state.
