Bala Mohammed Plans Defection to APC Amid Tensions

Bala Mohammed, the Governor of Bauchi State and Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, is reportedly concluding plans to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC). This decision follows negotiations for a senatorial ticket that would allow him to join the ruling party.

Sources indicate that Mohammed met with President Bola Tinubu and APC leadership to disclose his intent. The negotiations have faced challenges, particularly regarding the distribution of political power within the state.

Members of Seyi Makinde's camp expressed shock and disappointment at Mohammed's potential defection, viewing it as a betrayal of efforts to strengthen the PDP. Additionally, there are allegations that Mohammed was compelled to apologize to Seyi Tinubu's son due to past tensions.

If he defects, the number of APC governors will rise to 32, further complicating the political landscape for the PDP, which is already struggling to maintain unity.
