Governor Eno Launches Akwa Ibom State Electricity Commission

On September 25, 2023, Governor Eno inaugurated the Akwa Ibom State Electricity Commission (AKSERC) in Uyo, emphasizing its historical significance in pursuing energy security and economic development. The governor outlined the commission's mandate to adopt the Akwa Ibom Electricity Sector Reform Program and engage with relevant federal ministries and agencies to facilitate the state's full regulatory power over electricity.

He instructed the commission to develop a program tracker to monitor its operational plans and budget, ensuring accountability and transparency. The commission's leadership includes Ms.

Arit Okon Uya as Chairperson and Chief Executive, with Dr. Kalu Ukoha serving as Vice Chairman.

Other members include Engr. Ubong Etukudoh, Dr.

Valeri Obot, and Mr. Paul Okon.

Governor Eno commended the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly for passing the Akwa Ibom State Electricity Law 2025, marking a milestone in power sector reform under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration.
