Akwa Ibom Targets Reliable Electricity Supply in 18 Months

The Akwa Ibom State government, led by Governor Umo Eno, has set a target to ensure reliable electricity supply within 18 months. During a recent meeting of the Akwa Ibom State Executive Council, Eno directed the immediate operationalization of the Akwa Ibom State Electricity Regulatory Commission as part of efforts to achieve this goal.

The council reviewed the requirements for the commission's approval of measures to support its operations. Governor Eno emphasized the need for essential facilities to be provided, and the commission has been tasked with preparing a work plan and budget aimed at delivering efficient and reliable power supply within the specified timeframe.

Additionally, the council ratified matters related to the deployment of compressed natural gas (CNG) buses already in Lagos seaport. The executive council also approved the construction of a passenger terminal for a CNG mega station in Ikot Akpan Obio, Uyo.

Furthermore, the newly established Ministry of Aviation and Airport Development has been directed to submit a comprehensive work plan.
