Thugs Attack APC Meeting in Ondo, Injuring Leaders

A crisis erupted within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State when thugs reportedly linked to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa attacked a stakeholders' meeting held at the party's secretariat in Akure. The assault injured several attendees, including the state chairman, Adetimehin, and other party leaders such as Ademola Ijabiyi and Saka Yusuf.

The meeting was intended to prepare for upcoming ward congresses. Witnesses described the attackers as armed with dangerous weapons, causing panic and forcing attendees to flee for safety.

Adetimehin accused Governor Aiyedatiwa of orchestrating the violence to disrupt the meeting, claiming that thugs were hired from the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW). In response, the state government issued a statement denying the allegations and emphasizing a commitment to maintaining peace and democratic values.

The Ondo State Police Command reported that efforts were underway to restore calm, with one person injured taken to the hospital for treatment.
