Kano Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf Fires Head of Service

On March 11, 2026, Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf announced the immediate dismissal of Abdullahi Musa from his role as Head of Service. This decision was communicated through a statement released by the governor's spokesperson, Sunusi Batur Dawakin Tofa.

Abdullahi Musa had completed his official tenure as a civil servant in 2024, but the state government allowed him to remain in his position beyond that time to continue overseeing civil service activities. The governor's decision to terminate Musa's appointment is part of an effort to reorganize the civil service and improve governmental operations across Kano State.

Governor Yusuf expressed appreciation for Musa's work during his time in office and his commitment to state service. Following this change, Bilkisu Shehu Maimota, who currently serves as the Permanent Secretary in the Administration and General Services at the Cabinet Office, has been directed to act in the capacity of Head of Service until a new substantive head is appointed.

The handover process is expected to be completed by March 11, 2026.
