Kano Governor Yusuf to Join APC After NNPP Resignation

Governor Yusuf of Kano State is scheduled to officially defect from the NNPP to the APC on Monday, January 26, 2026. His decision to return to the APC is based on the need for unity and support for development efforts across Nigeria.

Yusuf had previously joined the APC in 2014, winning the Kano Central Senatorial seat. His return is expected to strengthen federal-state relations, expedite infrastructure projects, enhance security cooperation, and improve services for Kano State residents.

Alongside 22 members of the Kano State House of Assembly, eight members of the House of Representatives, and 44 local government chairmen, Yusuf will register as an APC member. The move is aimed at fostering political stability and peace in the state.
