Anambra Government Denies Collapse of New Government House

The Anambra State Government issued a statement on April 9, 2026, to counter claims circulating on social media that the new government house had collapsed due to a heavy rainstorm. Christian Aburim, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, clarified that the structure remained intact, and only a few barricades located approximately 20 meters from the perimeter fence were affected. The incident was attributed to severe winds and thunderstorms that impacted various properties across the state, including private homes. The government condemned the spread of false information and emphasized that the weather event was not unique to Anambra State. Furthermore, the Anambra Capital Territory Development Authority has already mobilized to commence work on rebuilding the damaged barricades and is implementing additional engineering measures to facilitate better wind flow and prevent future occurrences. The government urged the public to disregard misleading reports and continue supporting the governor's progress agenda.
