Ruling APC Fears Defections to ADC Ahead of 2027 Elections

Yusuf Tanko, the national coordinator of the Obidi Movement, stated in an interview that the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), is intimidated by the recent defections of notable politicians such as Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso to the African Democratic Congress (ADC). He expressed concerns regarding the ability of the APC to conduct free and fair elections, suggesting that the party is sidestepping candidates in the presidential election process despite efforts to ensure a seamless electoral process.

Tanko emphasized that the ruling party should focus on strengthening its delivery of promises to the people rather than being preoccupied with the defections of former presidential candidates. His remarks were made during a brief interview on Channel Television's morning show on Friday.
