ADC Welcomes Obi and Kwankwaso's Defection as Relief

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has acknowledged the defection of former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi and former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso as a relief, allowing the party to concentrate on its objectives without external pressure. ADC spokesman Bolaji Abdullahi described the departure of the two politicians as disappointing but not devastating.

He emphasized that despite the loss of these prominent figures, the ADC remains focused on its plans for the 2027 elections. Abdullahi addressed concerns regarding the potential impact of their exit on the party's ability to secure votes, noting that previous electoral figures do not guarantee future success.

He also stated that the ADC does not adopt a hostile posture towards Obi and Kwankwaso, viewing them as allies rather than enemies. The ADC had previously aligned with the NNPP in an effort to build a united opposition front ahead of the upcoming elections.
