Grace Ike Becomes First Female NUJ FCT Chairman

Grace Ike has become the first female chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council, a position she has achieved after 41 years since the council's establishment. With 15 years of experience in media, including roles at ITV, Silverbird, and ADBN TV, she is dedicated to advocating for journalist welfare, press freedom, and women's empowerment.

In an interview with Stellamari Amuwa, Ike expressed her happiness in witnessing the success of union members and emphasized her commitment to breaking barriers for women in journalism. She envisions herself as a national leader in media policy in the next ten years, aiming to launch welfare programs, including health insurance for members.

Ike's leadership style focuses on empathy and direct engagement with members' needs, utilizing digital tools to streamline operations. She also highlights the importance of fashion in self-expression, drawing inspiration from Nigerian designers and advocating for sustainable fashion choices.
