Andy Uba's Legal Troubles and Retreat from Politics

Former Senator Andy Uba, who represented Anambra South, has taken a low-profile approach to life after his influential political career. He has faced significant legal challenges, including an N400 million fraud allegation alongside co-defendant George Uboh, the managing director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

Uba's legal troubles have led to multiple court appearances, with one instance prompting a judge to threaten a bench warrant for his arrest due to his medical treatment abroad. On November 6, 2025, the Federal High Court in Abuja formally struck out the charges against him, although the noise surrounding his case continued.

In May 2026, reports emerged of a separate N50 million fraud allegation, which Uba swiftly denied, labeling the reports as malicious and threatening legal action against those spreading them.
