Nigerian Senate Mourns Late Senator Ezea, Welcomes PDP Defectors in Power Shift

The Nigerian Senate held a valedictory session to honor the late Senator Okechukwu Okei Ezea, describing him as a principled legislator who transcended partisan boundaries. Senate President Godswil Akpabio led the tributes, highlighting Ezea's commitment to public service.

The Senate also welcomed two senators from Taraba State who defected from the People Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The defectors, Haruna Manu and Issa Shuaibu Lau, cited internal challenges within the PDP as reasons for their decision.

Former presidential candidate Peter Obi paid tribute to Ezea's dedication to service and assured his children of support. The Senate session marked a significant political development with the shift in the Senate's balance of power.
