Deschamps to Miss World Cup Match After Mother's Death

Didier Deschamps, the current coach of the French national football team, will not be present for the team's final World Cup group match against Norway on Friday. This decision follows the announcement from the French Football Federation on Tuesday that Deschamps is returning to France to attend his mother's funeral after experiencing the pain of her passing.

In his absence, assistant coach Gui Stephan will manage the squad. France has already qualified for the last 32 of the tournament, having secured a 3-1 victory against Senegal and a 3-0 win against Iraq.

The match against Norway will take place in Foxborough, Massachusetts, where France aims to finish at the top of their group. Deschamps has been at the helm of the French team for 14 years, during which he led France to victory in the 2018 World Cup and to the finals of the 2022 World Cup and the Euro 2016.
