Coalition Backs Nigeria-U.S. Military Partnership, Ensures Sovereignty

The Coalition for Strategic Defence Cooperation (CSDC) has declared its support for the Nigerian government's military partnership with the United States, emphasizing that Nigeria's sovereignty remains fully intact. In a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday, the coalition described the arrangement as a strategic partnership designed to strengthen Nigeria's fight against terrorism, insurgency, and transnational crime.

The coalition highlighted that the presence of U.S. military personnel in Nigeria should be guided by facts rather than emotions, asserting that sovereignty is neither for sale nor compromised. CSDC Secretary Abdulmajid Danladi stated that the Nigerian Armed Forces maintain full operational control over security activities within the territory while cooperating with foreign partners under the limits of Nigerian law.

The coalition commended the leadership of the Nigerian Armed Forces, led by Chief of Defence Staff General Olufemi Oluyede, for their forward-looking decision to align Nigeria's long-standing diplomatic and security relations with the U.S. The CSDC urged the Nigerian government to maintain transparency in defense partnerships and ensure they align with Nigeria's foreign policy principles.
