Ondo Group Mobilizes Voters for Tinubu's 2027 Re-election

The Asiwaju Mandate Group (AMG) has initiated a voter mobilization campaign in Ondo State to ensure the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections. The group's Director-General, Asiwaju Asagunla, stated that the organization aims to enhance political participation and encourage eligible voters to fulfill their civic duties.

During a stakeholders’ meeting at the AMG Secretariat, Asagunla highlighted that voter apathy is a significant issue, with only about 600,000 of nearly two million registered voters in Ondo State typically participating in elections. He proposed measures to discourage this apathy, including potential penalties for non-participation.

The AMG has established structures across all 18 local government areas, 203 wards, and nearly 4,000 polling units in Ondo State, focusing on voter education and mobilization among various groups. The Chairman of the AMG Elders Council, Yele Omogunwa, criticized the Ondo State Government for poor stakeholder engagement but praised Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo for fostering inclusiveness within the AMG.
