106 Children Enrolled for Clubfoot Treatment in March

In March 2026, the Straight Child Foundation reported the enrollment of 106 children born with clubfoot for treatment across 23 specialized clinics operating in 12 states. Mr.

Uchenna Egb disclosed this information during a press briefing in Umuahia, Abia State. The data indicates that 74 children, representing 70 percent of those enrolled, were below the age of 12 months, highlighting the program's focus on early detection and intervention.

The treatment regimen includes an average of 4.2 cast visits and the performance of tenotomy, a minor corrective procedure, on 91.3 percent of the enrolled children, aligning with established global standards for clubfoot care. The program has recorded a low dropout rate of approximately 3.60 percent during the casting stage and 7.3 percent during the brace stage.

Efforts to strengthen service delivery and ensure quality care include supervisory visits and capacity-building training across several partner health facilities, including the Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital in Yenagoa and Warri General Hospital.
