Kaduna Coalition Criticizes El-Rufai Over Corruption Claims

The Kaduna Voice Unit Coalition, represented by Chairman Yariok Makama and Secretary Sunusi Tanimu, has criticized former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai for allegedly attempting to evade corruption allegations during his tenure. The coalition accused El-Rufai of undermining serious allegations by shifting blame to the National Security Adviser (NSA) and displaying a blatant disregard for due process and citizens' fundamental rights.

They highlighted El-Rufai's authoritarian governance style, which included seizing properties without fair compensation and instilling fear among the populace. The coalition condemned El-Rufai's recent statements portraying himself as a victim of political conspiracy, particularly regarding actions taken by the Department of State Services (DSS).

They called for a thorough investigation into the corruption allegations against him, emphasizing that citizens of Kaduna deserve transparency and justice. The coalition also expressed concern over political alignments, particularly Atiku Abubakar's defense of El-Rufai, warning against selective appeals to due process.

They urged Kaduna residents to remain engaged in the democratic process and demand accountability from their leaders.
