EFCC Investigates El-Rufai Amid Cybercrime Charges

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is probing Mallam Nasiru El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, regarding corruption allegations linked to his tenure from 2015 to 2023. El-Rufai arrived at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja on Monday for questioning, accompanied by hundreds of supporters.

Sources from the anti-graft agency disclosed that the investigation is ongoing, but the exact duration of the inquiry has not been confirmed. Additionally, the Department of State Services (DSS) filed three counts of cybercrime charges against El-Rufai at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday, related to the alleged wiretapping of National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu.

El-Rufai had previously refused arrest at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja last Thursday, where a security operation led to a dramatic interview concerning the allegations against him.
