EFCC Questions El-Rufai Over Corruption Allegations

Mallam Nasiru El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State and a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), was interrogated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday regarding corruption allegations linked to his tenure from 2015 to 2023. He arrived at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja at 11 AM, accompanied by hundreds of supporters.

Sources from the anti-graft agency disclosed that the investigation's duration was not confirmed, but it hinted at a possible court arraignment for El-Rufai. Additionally, on the same day, the Department of State Services (DSS) filed three counts of criminal charges against him in the Federal High Court in Abuja.

The charges stem from allegations of wiretapping the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu. El-Rufai had previously refused arrest at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja last Thursday, where security operations led to a dramatic interview.
