Arewa Youth Association Criticizes Northern Youth Forum Vote

The Arewa Youth Development Association has condemned the Northern Youth Forum's recent 'no confidence' vote against Defence Minister Christoph Gwabin Musa, labeling the action as reckless and politically motivated. Ahmad Bello Rimi, the group's president, stated that the Northern Youth Forum lacks an understanding of national security operations and called for Musa's resignation, which he deemed misguided.

Rimi emphasized that such actions could undermine ongoing efforts to tackle insecurity in Nigeria. He noted that Musa has demonstrated a commitment to proactive leadership in addressing evolving security challenges, as evidenced by a recent high-level meeting with service chiefs and national security advisors to review operational strategies.

The Arewa Youth Development Association urged the Northern Youth Forum to retract its statement and apologize to the Minister and the armed forces. They also called on Northern leaders, traditional rulers, and youth organizations to support the government's efforts under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to restore peace in affected communities.
