Women and Youth Urged to Engage in Nigerian Politics

During a political sensitization program held in Sokoto on Saturday, a group led by IBBN Chairman Ibrahim Wakili called for increased participation of women and youths in Nigeria's political process as a means to strengthen democracy ahead of the 2027 general elections. The program, themed "Women and Youth Involvement in Politics: A Panacea for Democratic Growth," aimed to enlighten citizens and encourage informed political decisions.

Wakili highlighted the importance of mobilizing citizens to support credible political candidates by examining their track records. Professor Sarafa Ogundiya from Usmanu Danfodiyo University urged Christian youths to engage in electoral activities, emphasizing that women constitute 49.6% and youths 35% of Nigeria's population, thus holding significant influence.

Challenges such as financial constraints and political manipulation were identified as barriers to participation. Rev.
