‘Guardians Of Justice Reduced To Seeking Clearance’ – Sowore Kicks Against DSS Screening Of SAN Designates

Sowore has criticized the Department of State Services (DSS) for reportedly screening Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) designates, calling it an illegal threat to the independence of the legal profession. Aare Olumuyiwa Akinboro SAN also raised concerns about the DSS's involvement, warning that it could undermine the sanctity of the judiciary.

The controversy arose after the Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee (LPPC) shortlisted 57 legal practitioners for elevation to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria. The DSS has neither confirmed nor denied the screening exercise, leading to speculation about the agency's influence on judicial matters.
