NBA President Criticizes DSS for Grilling SAN Nominees, Calls for Integrity

The President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mazi Afam Osigwe, expressed concern over the Department of State Services (DSS) and police summoning Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) nominees for questioning. Osigwe emphasized the need for security agencies to refrain from interfering in the confidential screening process for SAN conferment.

He highlighted the importance of maintaining the independence and integrity of the legal profession, stating that such actions could be prejudicial and counterproductive. Osigwe stressed that intelligence gathering should not compromise the dignity of nominees, urging a respectful and discreet approach to the screening process to uphold the profession's standards.
