CJN Warns Lawyers: SAN Rank Can Be Withdrawn for Abuse

The Chief Justice of Nigeria has warned lawyers that the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) rank can be withdrawn if abused, emphasizing the importance of ethical conduct and upholding integrity in the legal profession. At the inauguration ceremony of 57 new SANs, the Chief Justice highlighted the rigorous process and high expectations associated with the prestigious title.

He urged the legal practitioners to internalize the principles that come with the rank, emphasizing dignity, grace, and responsibility. The judiciary remains committed to dispensing justice fairly and impartially, with the Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee ensuring the integrity of the selection process for SANs.
