Gunmen Abduct Residents from Nuru Suraj Estate in Kaduna Millennium City

Armed gunmen broke into Nuru Suraj Estate in Millennium City, Kaduna State, shortly after midnight on Tuesday, seizing residents from at least two neighbouring houses. According to reports, the attackers entered through a secondary gate of the estate.

Military personnel deployed to the area pursued the assailants, resulting in the rescue of some captives. However, a number of victims remained unaccounted for as of reporting time.

The abduction resulted in conflicting casualty figures across reports. One account states eight people were initially seized, with two elderly women subsequently released by the kidnappers due to their age, leaving six in captivity.

Another version indicates six residents were taken, with military intervention enabling the recovery of some. Among those reported taken were two teenage boys and members of at least one family unit.

This incident represents a continuation of a security pattern in Millennium City. The area, a developing residential suburb within Chikun Local Government Area, has experienced repeated kidnapping operations over several months.

Earlier abductions in the area occurred in October. Residents have publicly expressed dissatisfaction with both federal and state government responses to the recurring attacks.

Local residents described the assault as causing widespread alarm throughout the estate. A neighbour living near the targeted houses confirmed that military personnel pursued the attackers following the invasion.

The identity and exact number of those still held captive remained unclear at the time reports were filed.
