Gunmen Abduct Six Travellers in Benue, Demand N100m Ransom

On Tuesday morning, six travellers, comprising three men and three women, were abducted by armed men in Benue while traveling in a convoy. The victims had reportedly spent Monday night in Ankpa, Kogi State, before continuing their journey to Makurdi, where they were intercepted around 5 AM.

The husband of one of the victims confirmed the incident, stating that the abductors contacted the families two hours after the attack, demanding a ransom of N100 million for their release. Victor Ormin, the chairman of Gwer West Local Government Area, confirmed the abduction and described the attack on the travelling group.

As of the time of reporting, the police public relations officer for the Benue State command, DSP Udem Edet, had not responded to requests for comments regarding the incident.
