Gunmen Abduct Six Travelers in Benue, Demand N100M Ransom

On Tuesday morning, six travelers were abducted by gunmen near Kula Village along the dilapidated Naka-Makurdi road in Gwer West Local Government Area, Benue State. The incident occurred within two hours, with the victims, three men and three women, traveling in a convoy when their vehicle was intercepted around 5 AM.

The victims had reportedly spent Monday night in Ankpa, Kogi State, before continuing their journey to Makurdi. The husband of one of the victims confirmed the kidnapping and stated that the family had been contacted by the abductors, who are demanding a ransom of N100 million for their release.

Victor Ormin, the chairman of Gwer West LGA, confirmed the incident to journalists in Makurdi, stating that negotiations are ongoing to raise the ransom amount. Udem Edet, the public relations officer of the Benue State Police Command, had not responded to inquiries regarding the incident at the time of the report.
